As a professional hypnotherapist and Reiki master, I often meet people who are seeking immediate solutions to chronic conditions they’ve been living with for years. I understand this desire. When you’re in pain—whether physical, emotional, or both—it’s natural to want a quick fix. The frustration that comes with chronic illness can be overwhelming, especially when traditional medicine only provides temporary relief or a band-aid solution.
However, as someone who works intimately with energy medicine and hypnotherapy, I can tell you this: true healing takes time, and for good reason. Let me explain why, and how embracing this process can lead to profound, lasting changes in your life.
The Emotional Root of Chronic Illness
What many people don’t realize is that most chronic conditions have an emotional root cause. Whether it’s anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, or thyroid issues, the physical symptoms are often the body’s way of signaling deeper emotional trauma or unresolved issues within the subconscious. In my experience working with clients, it is not uncommon for diseases to be linked to long-held beliefs, past trauma, or emotional wounds that have never been fully addressed.
For example, consider anxiety. While medication may help alleviate the symptoms, it doesn’t get to the core of why the anxiety exists in the first place. Through hypnotherapy and Reiki, we dig deeper into the subconscious, uncovering and releasing the emotional blocks that have manifested as physical or mental illness. The truth is, if you only treat the symptoms, the root cause remains, allowing the illness to persist or return later in another form.
Healing, therefore, must address the whole person—body, mind, and spirit.
Why Healing Takes Time
When a client comes to me for Reiki or hypnotherapy, they often hope for an immediate transformation. While I wish I could say that one session is all it takes, that’s simply not how deep, lasting healing works.
Think of it this way: if you’ve spent years carrying the emotional weight of trauma, stress, or limiting beliefs, it has taken time for those experiences to shape your current reality. In the same way, it will take time to unravel those layers of emotional weight and shift your energy. Energy medicine is about creating balance, removing blockages, and realigning your energetic system to support healing. But just as physical wounds don’t heal overnight, neither do emotional or energetic ones.

Layers of Healing: Uncovering the Root Causes
I often describe the healing process as peeling away the layers of an onion. Each session helps us to uncover another layer of the emotional or energetic block that has been holding you back. With every layer we peel away, we get closer to the root cause of your chronic illness or emotional distress.
In Reiki, for example, energy is channeled into the body, helping to clear away blockages and restore balance to the body’s energy centers (or chakras). Hypnotherapy, on the other hand, allows us to work directly with the subconscious mind, where many of these deep-seated emotional issues reside. By using hypnosis, I help my clients access their inner beliefs and memories—some of which may have been buried for years—and guide them toward releasing the negative energy associated with those beliefs.
What’s fascinating about hypnotherapy is that it allows clients to gain clarity and insight into why they feel the way they do. Through deep focus and relaxation, the subconscious becomes more open to suggestions for change. This is particularly effective for chronic illnesses like fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, and even thyroid issues, where there is often an emotional or psychological component to the illness.
However, this process doesn’t happen in a single session. It’s a journey, one that requires commitment, patience, and self-compassion.
The Importance of Multiple Sessions
Why aren’t one or two sessions enough? Because healing is not linear. Some days, you may feel like you’ve made a breakthrough, while other days, old feelings or symptoms may resurface. This is all part of the process. Each session is an opportunity to address a different layer, and sometimes the real root cause of an issue doesn’t reveal itself until several sessions in.
This is why I encourage my clients to think of their healing journey as an ongoing process, rather than a one-time event. The goal isn’t just to feel better for a few days or weeks—it’s to create lasting change. The deep emotional work we do in sessions, combined with consistent self-care and awareness, allows the body and mind to recalibrate and heal over time.
For chronic conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, endometriosis, dysautonomia, and MS, this process is particularly crucial. These conditions are often deeply ingrained in the body’s energetic system, and it takes time to reprogram the mind and body to release the patterns that are contributing to the illness.
Manifesting Healing: Aligning Energy with Desired Outcomes
One of the key principles I teach my clients is that you are the answer to your own healing. While I provide the tools and guidance—through Reiki, hypnotherapy, and intuitive coaching—you ultimately hold the power to heal yourself. It’s all about aligning your energy with the results you want to manifest.
Many people are familiar with the idea of manifestation, but few truly understand how it works in the context of healing. It’s not just about thinking positively or visualizing yourself in better health. It’s about doing the deep inner work to shift your energy, beliefs, and habits so that your body and mind can heal. This means uncovering the emotional root cause of your illness, changing your relationship with your body, and creating new, healthier beliefs about yourself and your life.
